At Peter Fry Funerals in Maitland, we strive to minimise funeral costs by offering packages that cover all the necessities without causing any undue financial stress. We can come to you and cover all necessary arrangements so that you can focus on being with your family and friends in these times of grief. Peter Fry Funerals takes care of everything from the preparation of your loved one and funeral service to the burial or cremation following, as well as the delivery of the death certificate and ashes. Funeral Arrangements & Fees

When someone close to you has passed away, you may need to be involved in the funeral arrangements. Give yourself some time to process what has happened; perhaps call someone for support, speak to the doctor and then call a funeral director.


We are available 24/7 on 4930 1441. Once you have spoken to one of our team and given your permission for us to take your loved one into our care, you will have some time to think about a few of the decisions that will need to be made once you see us for your first meeting, which can be at your home or our office in Maitland

Floral Tributes

We will, if required, organise floral tributes from any local florists. Alternatively, you can obtain your own floral tributes.

Service Booklets/ Photo Tributes

We are able to design and supply service booklets and make a movie out of your photos and choice of music for use in most Crematoriums & Churches. Hiring of equipment for photo presentations is available if required.

Costs

We charge a professional fee for our expertise in assisting a family in planning a funeral. We ensure that NSW Health requirements are met while remaining sensitive to the family’s needs. Things that need to be considered:

  • Coffin or casket (depends on choice and size)
  • Transport from place of death into our care. This also depends on when and where this happens and urgency of removal.
  • Burial (Cemetery fees vary between & within different cemeteries)
  • Grave digging (Prices differ depending on cemetery)
  • Cremation (Crematorium fees vary between different crematoriums) & Medical Cremation Certificates
  • Church, Clergy, Organist & or Celebrant expenses.
  • Newspaper notices or any advertising requested.
  • Additional services if required (Floral tribute, supply & printing of service booklets & photo tribute production.)

Direct Cremation - "No Fuss"

A Direct Cremation with no fuss and no funeral ('No Service, No Attendance' NSNA) where we transfer your loved one into our care from where they have passed away, take care of their cremation and have their ashes available as soon as possible.


This includes the bare essentials, our assistance completing paperwork, transfer within business hours (Hunter region), cremation coffin, cremation fees, doctor cremation papers, a death certificate including certified copies


* $3750.00 inclusive of GST


* Additional cost of $450 if Transfer occurs out of Business Hours

* Additional costs will occur if transfer occurs outside the Hunter Region

  • Within our fees, "Local Area (LA)' is defined as 80km from our office in Maitland.
  • Business Hours: BH 9am -5pm Mon to Friday - After Hours: AH


Essential Fees

  • Transfer Into Our Care: Local Area BH $350
  • Transfer Into Our Care: Local Area AH $450 (Public Holidays Additional Fee)
  • Professional Fee (includes mortuary care and administrative fees, viewing if required BH): $2800
  • Coffins range from $850 to $5000

  • Cremation Fee (Newcastle Memorial Park, Beresfield) Monday - Thursday $1,200.00, Friday $1,336.36, Saturday $2,120.00
  • Cremation Certificates (Attending Practitioner and Referee) from $217.80
  • Celebrant from $400
  • Burial plot (Council or Church Cemetery Fees apply) Maitland City Council $1849.77
  • Burial Interment Fee (depending on council) from $430.04
  • Gravedigging Fee from $1400
  • Grave Marker $75

Optional Third-Party Fees

  • Clergy Fee / Church Expenses from $500
  • Flowers (at florist’s invoice price) from $400
  • Scattering Petals per basket $40
  • Newspaper Funeral Notices (depending on the chosen paper, Newcastle Herald Wednesday and Saturday, Maitland Mercury Friday) from $300

A basic "no fuss" cremation with 'No Service, No Attendance' (NSNA) where we simply return the ashes to you and take care of your loved one from where they passed away. This includes transfer within business hours (Hunter region), basic coffin, cremation fee, doctor cremation papers, and a death certificate

Disclosures

  • Our Mortuary is located at 200 High Street, Maitland, and is owned by Peter Fry Funerals.
  • The crematoriums we frequently use are Newcastle Memorial Park, Beresfield and Lake Macquarie Memorial Park, Ryhope.
  • Transportation of the body prior to burial or cremation will be in an approved vehicle owned by our business.
  • The deceased will be kept in our mortuary and will be transported for the purposes of the Funeral Service as per the final agreement.
