Dear Peter, there are so many memories to thank you for – the night of Ede’s departure from home will be forever in my memory – it was a perfect conclusion to our honourings of her death. The timing of the tails and hat was impeccable and obviously enabled this spontaneous appreciation of her life that came at the end of the farewell – and ensured that Mari and I got out of the church emotionally intact.

Thank you for your ability to listen and to respond to both that which is expressed and that which is barely articulated. Thank you for being able to anticipate without pre empting and to guide without usurping. Thank you for understanding so clearly how we wanted to celebrate Ede’s life and for the attention to detail (short of a rehearsal!) that made it such a memorable farewell for us all.
Above all Peter, thank you for being so solidly and unobtrusively there and enabling me to trust that all would be unreservedly fine and splendid – as indeed it was.
